Oklahoma camps helps kids exposed to domestic violence heal

At a sleepaway summer camp miles from the heart of Oklahoma City, a group of kids learned how to reform relationships with themselves and those around them. For the 29 children — 15 boys and 14 girls — bused into Camp Classen in Davis for the first session of Camp Hope Oklahoma City, a week can make a world of difference. The camp is the first outreach program of the city's forthcoming Family Justice Center, set to open its first temporary location in the fall. The children, ages 7 to 11, come from homes where domestic violence affected their lives, whether directly or as witnesses to acts inflicted upon parents or siblings.
